LCD flex repair, ACF bonding as home, any hints?
« on: August 28, 2022, 12:13:58 pm »
I got a nice micrometer but LCD was ripped off.

Googling suggests that this kind of repair is nowadays done with ACF bonding and there are plenty of videos advertising different automatic repair machines.

But in this case the whole LCD is like 4cm x 2cm, and the bonding area is hardly more than ~12mm.

Is it reparable at home at this scale? Did anybody try that? I guess it should not be very difficult.

Where to buy ACF adhesive at small scale?
In Youtube videos they use "ACF cleaning liquid". What is that?

Try powering the unit up and press the flex onto the glass and see how many digits appear, If you get a good display, just heat something flat up to around 120 Celsius and remelt the bonding adhesive.
