LCR Meter DE-5000 Repair Help and Opinions Needed.
« on: April 07, 2020, 12:12:12 pm »
My DE-5000 LCR meter failed while measuring a 2200 uF capacitor. Inside nothing smells or seems damaged. I have a multi-meter that I can use if needed.

This is the behavior:  Whenever the I connect a component to measure the AUTO feature kicks in and the meter acts confused and does not recognize what is being tested, constantly switches around. In the manual mode it does not read either. The meter is about 2 years old and has barely any use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Along with my multi-meter and school lab equipment it was of great help.

what probe do you use ? do you have another probe (crocodile versus tweezers) that you could test with ?

Impossible to make an analysis this way.

Before you measured the 2200µF, did you make sure to discharge it?

The chipset obviously is not protected well against over voltage, and is probably irreversibly damaged in such cases, if I remember some statements correctly.

I did not discharged the capacitor before testing it.
