Soldering Temp. controller info ,need help.
« on: August 19, 2020, 01:34:47 am »
Hi ,
I purchased a Temp controller that I am trying to make a  Hakko 472 desoldering pump work when adding a chinese Aoyue B1002A desoldering Gun. So far I have managed to get the Gun to heat up but I cannot control the Temp. I am not 100% sure about my connections. See photos.

24 volts Ac to the Bridge rectifier
Gun heater to T12- and T12+
Gun thermal sensor to SW- and SW+
Gun Ground to ground.

The Gun just continues to heat up with no temp control.  Included with the controller is a Diode and I believe it is a tilt switch switch???? What is the diode for?
Forgot to mention the Chinese seller has no idea how to hook it up.
Any constructive help would be appreciated. please dont waist everyone's time with sarcastic comments..

Best regards,

stop criticizing my waist!  :-DD

>Gun thermal sensor to SW- and SW+

those are most likely for the tilt sensor
you bought wrong controller for the job by listening to random people on the internet (I blame ogden :P) before investigating what you need
do you know what type of sensor Aoyue B1002A has? maaaaybe, just maybe putting what you believe to be "Gun thermal sensor" in series with heater could work as an ugly hack

Hi Rasz,
Ya this is what I was thinking . The wrong temp controller. I was not 100% on the connections but looks like I was right. Please give more detail as to what controller you were talking about or  just more detail. Im kinda  lame on this type of electronics. As far as the gun sensor I do not know. Its for sure not the same as the Hakko 802.
Have a great day!

PS: I started a new thread because its been so long . with the Covid its been months since I received anything from China..

I dont know what you need because I dont have Aoyue B1002A desoldering Gun. You need to identify type of temp sensor used and the wiring first

thermocouple, so as I said earlier for a hack connect it in series with heater element and connect to  T12- and T12+ of controller

T12 sensor is a thermocouple in series with the heater, a 2-wire affair.
Late model Hakko desoldering guns and the clones have a seperate thermocouple in the heating element, so a 4-wire affair. Older Hakko desoldering guns use the heating element's resistance as the RTD.
The glass DO-35 diode looking part is a NTC thermistor used for CJC in the T12 handle, and the SW-200D is the shake switch which also is in the T12 handle.

You can split up the T12 controller temperature sense (from the heater power) as is done to make them work with JBC soldering irons.
Putting them in series (heater+thermocouple) I'm sure it would've been done and I've never tried it.

The Aoyue B1002A is a 4 wire, two for heater and two for the sensor I believe it is RTD. So this controller I purchased will not work. I ordered some  Ceramic Heating Elements For Soldering Iron 936. The controller was made for that (936) so ill try and get the sensor off the heating element (936) and apply it to the B1002A replacing the sensor.  :blah:

The Hakko 802 guns are insane in price. I want to find a way to apply the cheap Chinese guns as replacements on Hakko 470-2 stations.
