LG TV fault codes
« on: August 08, 2021, 05:22:04 pm »
Our LG 55UB8500 TV froze, and after cycling the power it won't start up at all. The red standby LED flashes 3 times when you try to start the TV, and if you leave it on for about a minute an orange LED on the power supply board starts giving bursts of 5 flashes. I assume these flashing patterns indicate the nature of the fault, but Googling hasn't flushed out their meaning (although it did get me a couple of hits of people asking about exactly the same 5 flash bursts from the LED on the power supply board). Does anyone know what this flashing means?

Check the service manual (linked below). If there is no info regarding flashing leds in there then it’s nothing worth noting, if it’s an error code of sorts it should be in there.

Thanks. I can't see a reference to LED flashing patterns, but that's really helpful. Like most current "service" manuals the fault finding information only tries to locate the fault to a particular board, although it does have the detailed schematics.
