LG washing machine repair, LE error
« on: March 13, 2016, 09:21:55 pm »
Hi,

My LG washing machine broke and gave LE error on the display. It was a faulty 330 ohm resistor in the 6501KW2001A hall sensor that was broken.
I made a repair video of it in case somebody needs to do the same repair.

Hello,

old topic, maybe can be revived... Do you recall what kind of defect had the sensor? Are these resistors the output pull ups?

I may be experiencing some problem with my sensor (same model no.) the ha and hb outputs are latching types changing from 0.8V to 11.5V when a magnet runs over the sensor. The drum spin but makes a cracking noise.

I remember years ago trying to fix my mums washing machine,25+ yrs ago,the mechanical programer was u/s,brought one from homeaids in wrexham wales for nearly £100,it had maybe 80+ spade connectors on it,took pics with a polaroid camera(film) when it came to fitting the new one,it had if i remember about 6 more spades on it,i contacted the shop saying they had given me the wrong controller!,they told me it had been modded,i said ok give me a schematic or the info to fit the one you sold me,they said no its against company policy,The bastards!!,100 quid was nearly a weeks wages back then!

Well, I do remember changing quite a few Defy washing machine control switches, with Defy giving you a new one, plus a photocopied faded sheet with a lot of jumpers to change for specific models, and a jumper ot three in the bag. You took the old one off from the front, and carefully swapped wire for wire from the dozens of tags per switch bank, then moved the jumpers from the old one to the new one, making sure you got them right, comparing to the sheet for any changes for some models. then put in the case, screw in the 2 screws, and put the rotary switch back on the shaft, apply mains power, and select a program, then close the door and turn the machine on. most of the time it would start filling water, and you waited for it to run through the full program to spin, then wait for the door to unlock, then turn the machine off.

You still buy those machines new, and the switch as well. That, and level switches, door interlocks, and those rubber boots for the drum......

DAW 285, and those darn pump motors that wore, jammed and leaked, when they did not turn the windings into a cooked mess.

I don't know if this helps ...

LG washing machine service manuals:

Models which have the OP's Hall sensor:

Couple of comments: depending upon the mystery potting compound, the resistor was probably broken whilst trying to remove the compound from the pcb.  Depends.   I would say that corrosion in the connector was most likely the cause.   This makes sense in a washing machine motor which is subjected to: vibration, heat and moisture.

Never fix that which is not broken.
