Linak CB6 Hospital Bed Motor Controller Repair
« on: February 05, 2019, 01:27:55 am »
Does anyone have any information on (or experience with) Linak hospital bed motor controllers?  I have a few CB6 units that I've been asked to take a look at.

The CB6 control unit looks the same as the invacare unit.  If it's not actuating, crack it open and listen to the relays.  Invacare used crappy no-brand relays, which I replaced with digikey PB2031-ND.
Symptom was that only some directions (retract/extend) worked.  It's not a high-tech device, especially considering it's outragous price.

On these faulty units, none of the relays actuate.  The LED on the board lights red (and the piezo beeps) with every button press.

The handset unlocks (with a magnet), but maybe the controller is still seeing it as locked as it does the same thing when the handset is still locked.

There's no obvious damage to the board or components, but it's hard to know exactly how it operates without a schematic.

Hi!

Have you checked "Franks Hospital Workshop" site? There are service manuals and technical documents for many varieties of medical and hospital equipment you can download free without registration to browse thro'!

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

The motors are very likely simple brushed DC motors.
Finding info on those is much easier than on some specialised equipment they are used in.

The motors would indeed be a brushed DC type, but that's not the issue here.  It's the motor controller box that is faulty.
