Line filter assembly in a Tektronix 2235
« on: February 20, 2024, 02:42:30 am »
I was able to pick up a Tek 2235 AN/USM-488 for a real reasonable price.  I'm going to replace the RIFA caps before I do anything else, and I was considering replacing the line filter assembly while I'm at it.  My question is how critical are the values of the components in the filter assembly?

The verison of the 2235 I have has line filter 119-1788-00 which is a ZUB2203-00 made by TDK.  Specs are:  3A, L=1.0mH, X2=0.1uF, Y=2x2200pF.

It looks like the Schaffner FN9222 series is a close match.  The cap values are teh same, but the inductance is 2.5mH for the 3A part and 0.78mH  for the 6A inlet.  Will this make any difference?

Thanks in advance!

Inductor, and capacitor values I would guess will have not much significance. Just make sure the new line filter can handle the power consumption of the scope.
Love the smell of burning capacitor electrolyte in the morning.
