If you have a way to read it, have you tried heating it up to see if you can get good data from it?

When I got the scope the first thing I did was to save the .BIN and that was 6 months ago.

Yesterday as I still could not manage to fix the scope I went and compared what is on it today to what I saved 6 months ago and it does not match.

So yes I have  gear to read and save but I need a good BIN file to save and test.

I think the scope I gave my friend a few years ago is a V6025, I haven't seen him in a while due to the covid thing though. What is stored in the ROM? Calibration data? Is it one of those Dallas or similar battery backed NVRAMs?

I think both. I can read some lines about calibration but I think it also provides data for  the storage MPU.
