Looking for the input connectors for Agilent 34420A
« on: October 08, 2014, 09:55:14 pm »
Hi,
I am looking for the input connectors for Agilent 34420A. I'd like to make a few for different ends and lengths.

Just something that fits to the terminal.

Thank you in advance.

Agilent/Keysight sells them directly. Part number 34104A, USD$125 each. They are likely proprietary, so you won't have any other choice.
The instrument should include one one shorting block, and one cable with Kelvin connections (for 4-wire resistance measurements). This is all low-thermal stuff with pure copper used throughout.

I just make investigation and input connector used on Agilent 34420A and maybe Keithley 2182 seems to be LEMO V series  connectors.
Replacement is FVN (cable or short) and EVP (meter) connectors.
http://www.lemo.com/catalog/ROW/UK_English/V_series_en.pdf

FVN-XX-304-CLAC-xx-Z

XX is probably 2V and xx depends on diameter of your cable.
If someone has original cable please measure diameter of nut.

I can confirm the shorting plug for a 34420A works perfectly with a 2182.

The Lemo part number on the plug is FVN.1S

Well not quite ...

Actually it is

FVN.1S.304.CLYC37Z

Then you get even the raw copper contacts ...

That's a good point, that Lemo is not using  pure copper contact and they are using beryllium bronze, bronze and brass.
Info in official catalog (page 178)
http://www.lemo.com/catalog/ROW/UK_English/unipole_multipole.pdf
According to number it looks like really custom made connector for HP and not official in Lemo catalog ( V series housing, S series insert and contacts made from almost pure copper) So it will be probably better to buy replacement from Keysight.

>>> Actually it is FVN.1S.304.CLYC37Z

Can I check - is this the part # taken off a kosher set of Keysight/Keithley test leads?

The PN does not contain information about copper contacts.Must be specfied separatelly.
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/hpagilentkeysight-34420a-nanovoltmicro-ohm-meter-repair/
cable FVN.1S.304.CLYC37Z price 50 EUR
meter input connector is EVP.1S.304.CLY price 40EUR

Many thanks plesa, btw where did you find it for 50 EUR - I'm getting £76 i.e. ~100 EUR. Keysight gave me these UK distributors:

Aspen Electronics Ltd (Premium Partner)
Amplicon Liveline Ltd
Microlease Plc

and Microlease for instance is quoting the £76/EUR 100 price?
