Macbook Air backlight repair
« on: January 22, 2016, 03:18:17 am »
Hey Guys!
I've got a Macbook air in the shop for repair.
The display backlight is not functioning, the display is showing a dark picture.
There is a suspicious looking component near the display connector, Fuse or capacitor? I can't see a part number or any marking on it.
How do I go about testing it? and if so, is it just as simple as soldering in a new one?
I've put A multimeter over the component next to it and it shows 20.0?. the component in question does not give a consistent reading.
Help would be much appreciated :)

Or at least one of them, pls check for short to ground and the connector before you change the fuse. This fuse don't burn without  a reasone.

I have heard that the fuze can die if the LCD connector it plugged in when the battery is still connected to the logic board.  Other than that it should only die as a result of a short.
