Macintosh Portable LCD repair
« on: June 24, 2022, 12:02:38 am »
I have a backlit Macintosh Portable that I'm attempting to rescue and have recapped. Unfortunately, there appears to be a problem with the display, in that there's a constant vertical line present.

I'm not sure how repairable this will be, as I'm unsure whether it's a problem with the connection between display and board or one of the driver chips itself. Any advice?

By the way, this is a 30+ year old display, and I'm assuming that the panel connects to the PCB via zebra strips. I *could* take a pair of pliers and remove the metal frame (picture to come) then try cleaning them - but I'm afraid of inadequately replacing them and causing more damage.
