Measuring an IC
« on: April 27, 2020, 11:02:22 am »
Hi everyone,

May I know if there is anyway to measure an ic which is taken from a donor board?

I'm actually technician for iphone and ipad, and there are times i'm taking a chip from my donor board.

So I sometimes when I take the chip works sometimes not! I use diode mode on my multi meter to measure pins.

Does diode measurement work on ics? how can I tell if it's good or bad before putting them on the board?

Thank you.

Any chance of having the specific part number or looking for its datasheet? It might help you. There is a way though but not entirely the general consensus, locate the VCC and GND pins through the help of datasheet, and use your multimeter in diode mode to test see if there are any shorts between the two pins.

There is no way to have access to data-sheets, but with tool I have I can have VCC and GND pins.
Thanks for your advice
Cheers
