Metrix GX240
« on: May 27, 2020, 01:26:54 pm »
Hi, I have a Metrix GX 240 Signal Generetor that I picked up recently.
I just plugged it in this morning, and found out the although all the Signal Forms and other features are
functional, the output voltage, which should be 20VDC at maximum, is only a few millivolts.
Both of the 50R output terminals are connected on the board via a SDM resistor (impossible to read what’s on it; probably mounted upside down), and it’s actually a dead short.
Does anyone have a schematic for this?  I can’t find it anywhere...

Thanks...

Most of those around in France have previously been used in highschools. If you have a dead output the odds are that a pupil will have sent some power in the output, most of the time destroying the output transistors at minimum.

Hi,
In my GX245 (which is the 5MHz version of the GX240), the output amplifier is a LT1206.

Do you have a similar output amplifier ?
Michel.

schematics found in pages 4 and 6 ..

hope it helps a bit …

cheers !

Can somebody tell me which transformer is used in there? Mine seems to be defect. I desoldered the bridgerectifiers and the fuse still blews immediately.

The device was working the last time A year ago or so. I noticed the fuse being not 50mA like printed on the back but 160mA. I tried wirh up to 500mA but the fuse always immediatwly blews.
I measured the resistance on primary(230V) side, it‘s 72Ohms. Secondary sides are 1,3 Ohms (for 5V DC rail) and 8,3 Ohns (for -15V/+15V rail)

Whaooo,

I didn’t receive any notifications, but now I see that many people responded.
A little late, but thank you all.
