Micronta 22-191 MOV
« on: August 02, 2019, 09:33:12 pm »
Won't replace any of my Flukes, but I picked up a broken 22-191 multimeter for 10.00 total.

Bad MOV, can you guys suggest a rating for a replacement?

Marked 7K820, Google isn't turning up much.

Here the bad MOV and it's position in circuit.

7mm diameter 82V DC varistor. There are tons of suitable replacements.

I got one of those for free, but the lcd was faded to the strip not being held on anymore.  I tried to fix it, but ended up shipping it to an user (Harvey) in England? (can't remember now) who loved these meters and wanted more.

I've owned like three of these over the years, including this one now. They're really quite handy. Once the AC and especially DC internal adjustments have been corrected for aging, general service including cleaning switches etc, they're OK.

The performance doesn't match up to the newer Chinese models, but the physical build quality is really nice in some respects. Strong cylindrical input jacks, really strong physical construction of the switches, that sort of thing.

This one works fine after temporarily removing the MOV. It's a really clean one.

As I said, it won't replace any of my Flukes, but it takes me back to my early days as a tech.
