Dear Members,
I'm trying to repair a SMPS for a motor drive machine. The circuit uses a mosgate IC IR2110 driving a SPP17N80C3. I'm having problems with ringing on the chip and the mosfet. Is it possible that the noise is coming from installing a machined IC socket? The original design didn't use IC sockets. I'm using the IC socket to make the repair easier however if removing the IC socket
will reduce
the parasitic and ringing noise I will try it.
Thanks in advance.
Jeff M.

IMHO a chip socket, machined or otherwise, is unlikely to cause noise of that magnitude.
