MSO8104A self test fails but passes self calibration.
« on: July 16, 2022, 10:16:42 pm »
Hi dear eeblogers, I am trying to debug self test failure on a MSO80104A. For all practical purpose scope seems to be working and passes self calibration but when I run the self test it fails the vertical test group. The logs from the selftest results are attached. Your insight in debug this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)  :box:

Is the model type correct?
Google can't find a thing.

Sorry it looks like there was a typo. the correct model number is MSO8104A. I compared the logs of self test from a good scope with the failed one but I can't find any difference in expected measured values except the vertical failed message.

Ok.
Manual is also very helpful, Does vertical test group pass? -> No -> Replace acquisition board.

From me any insights are pretty far out of sights, folks hanging around Test Equipment and Metrology sections have much more of that, but anyway.
Is there a different test set for digital side?
Fast reading the manual didn't give anything.

Maybe it's as simple as vertical selection that is not propagating correctly inside the machine but is still actually operating totally correctly.
Like when machine is used normally that test feature signal or its feedback is not used and is so irrelevant.
