MVME 162-212 repair
« on: February 08, 2019, 08:58:39 pm »
Hi all,
I am working reassembling an old mixing console (myspecialty) with an automation system (not my specialty) that uses an MVME 162-212 card. This is out of my area of knowledge so I posting for anyone that has experience with these modules as I’m aware they were widely used in industry.

as far as I can see the MVME is used as the interface for the device to communicate via Ethernet with a computer via a LE2006a to 10base2T network.
There is also an Omnibyte OB68K/VME1 in the unit.

I can ping the network and other devices appear but the MVME based device does not. (The Ethernet Adapter works tested on another working device) I see the adapter receive the ping but to respond like the others do.
The MVME has four indicator led’s and a photo is attached.
Fail is illuminated and fuse is not.
All fuses are fine.
Any pointers as to what to look for would br greatly appreciated!

I have looked at manuals but the data is a bit ambiguous to be to how these LEDs are activated.

All the best
Chris

By way of an update, yesterday I was able to get a serial connection into the accompanying Mac G4 and use ZTerm to receive data from the 162. It appears on reset the 162 spits out gibberish rather than the usual ‘make, model, serial revision data’ that you would expect to see from port 0.
