My HP3456A display failed this morning... [FIXED]

I could not find a reference to this problem on the Forum. After weeks of faithful service, my HP3456A display failed this morning. It only shows first and last digit, nothing in between, even when I run the self test. Obviously, it does not respond to any input. I have yet to pull it apart. Any ideas on what it may be or where to look?

Read the service manual  but open up first to have a look. Could be as simple as cracked solder joints in the display section or something else. Experts will join in shortly. calling Mr. Tin?

Yippee. Thankfully some jobs are easy and this was one. Re-seating the blue connector behind the display brought all the missing digits back.
