Need help repairing E5071B

Hi,

I happen to come across a E5071B with a defective A3 Module(level vernier). The output power is down by 60dBm. Self-Test also fails at A3. Taking apart the A3 Module, I found 2 sets of Agilent made chips. 1GG7-4236 AND 1GC1-4213.



Google did not yield any result for the 1GG7-4236, for 1GC1-4213, Its an amplifier.

My suspect was the first two chip 1GG7-4236, so I bypassed them both and turned on the unit. I got a trace, with 3 dB loss. Which at least indicates my amplifier is working. My guess is 1gg7-4236 is a variable attenuator/pin diode. I believe its used to fine tune output level, which makes sense with the module name. Now i am stuck as I am not sure if my theory is right. Anyone can provide info on the chip?

If you bypass each IC separately, what attenuation do you see for each IC?

Pin #11 is driven by the output of an OP284 op amp (unless I've incorrectly identified the pinout). Does the voltage on this pin vary during the self test? I expect that pin #11 is an analogue control pin.

Have you tried matching the pinout to other 1GG7-nnnn parts at keysight.com?
