Need help to identify SMD component
« on: November 23, 2020, 12:43:02 pm »
Hello all!

I am looking for some assistance, identifying an smd component, which gets very hot upon plugging in a
Focusrite 4i4 3gen (USB C) soundcard, which shows no sign of life at all.

The part is a 6 pin SOT23 (?) thingy, with U31 marking on the PCB no idea what it is. Some sort of DC-DC converter? Transistor?
Rail-to-Rail converter?
What i suspect id tha marking says:
AUDK 922
AVDK 922
But no luck on that search. Thanks in advance
Titus

That is a DC-DC stepdown converter (Kapcsolóüzemű tápegység). There is a testpoint next to it, labeled 3.3V, that must be the output, and there is a tespoint on it, labeled VBUS.
If you cannot find out what it is, just desolder the IC and the inductor, and replace it with any module which could do 2-300mA.

It looks very much like the Ricoh RP500x series, but it looks like it has the pinout of the DFN series, not the SOT-23-6W  :-//

MP2141NGTF, Monolithic Power, 1A, Synchronous, Step-Down Converter with 11μA Quiescent Current, 2.3V - 5.5Vin, 1A, marking AUDx, SOT563:

Thank You guys for the identification, it really is an Mp2141 i suspect.
Unfortunately i can't get a hold of this unit, (10-14 weeks to produce 5000 pcs...)
So i am looking for a substitution.
Anyone got an idea?
As far as i see it should make 3.3 V out of 5V 1Amp
SOt 563 (I can manage some wiring, but correct pinout would be superb)
Sincerely: Titus

To NANDBLog:
