Need help with component identification for LG LED TV
« on: April 22, 2021, 09:15:21 pm »
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify a component that is located on the motherboard of an LG, 55GA6400 LED TV. I attached photos of the part in question. There are several of these same exact components located on the board and they have individual numbers identifying each one. The part was initially loose and fell off of the motherboard-or it may have had some assistance :). The TV turns on but there is no image. Please let me know if you can ID the part. Thanks in advance!!

That appears to be a block of foam with a conductive outer wrapping for grounding and reducing interference.

If it was already loose before disassembly, it may have shorted out and damaged something. Otherwise it should have no effect on operation.

Soft foam or rubber covered with a conductive textile.
They're used for grounding / shielding, here to make contact between main board ground plane and back of TV screen.
They're often not absolutely required for functionality, having them floating loose however is bad, they could create destructive short circuits.

Amyk beat me to it...

I know it's not what you asked, but it's likely the fault is caused by faulty backlights or mainboard and unrelated to the EMC foam bits. Have a read through these:

Just be careful, there are voltages in there that can kill you.  :-/O
