Need image of R&S embedded XP for FSP30

I have an R&S FSP30 with a "click of death" hard disk. I desperately need a backup image of the R&S special XP embedded operating system.  I have already contacted R&S, but they say they are unable to help. Does anyone have an image they could send me, or a working SFP from which you could grab an image off of the disk? Thanks for any help.

Did you ever get a disc to repair your FSP30?  I have a FSP40 and need to rebuild the embedded xp.

The image would would work with any version of FSP, fsp3,7,13,20,38 all uses the same image, provided it's the xp version The instrument will detect the version, once it's booted. Any user with r&s FSP can help you out. Good Luck

You shouldn't need the embedded version.  Standard XP pro should install fine on the hardware (I've done it on a couple older UPVs), and then you install the firmware package (have to install as administrator, a different account will seem to install fine and then not boot).  You miss out on some of the defaults and the recovery partition manager they use, and you need to install chipset drivers IIRC, but it can be treated as a normal PC and still work.

Hi All

I have an issue with a FSP-40 boot error.  So downloaded the image this one (http://www.ko4bb.com/getsimple/index.php?id=manuals&dir=Rohde_Schwarz/Rohde_Schwarz_FSP) and installed on a 32 GB USB stick.  The unit boots to it but gives this error attached.  The drive which was attached in the unit was a Flash drive and is readable if I remove it and attach it to a USB converter.  The windows build must be corrupt.

Any help would be much appreciated. R&S would not help as it's a model number not supported anymore.

Hi. I hope your FSP30 is still running.  I was able to get mine running again, using a backup image provided by another forum member.  However, after doing some quick tests and looking at the instrument info, I realized that the image was not a backup of an FSP30, but rather an FSP3.  If your FSP30 happens to be running on NT4.0 embedded, then I would be very interested in getting a backup image from you.  I have tried getting an XP version of the firmware to run on my unit, but have not been able to get it to run. I think my unit is too old for XP. At BIOS boot it displays FAS FSP5 BIOS V1.0-22-1 with AWARD BIOS v4.51PG. When the analyzer firmware is running with the backup image I am using it reports in the STATISTICS Model FSP-3 Firmware Rev. 2.00 SP3.

1 st guys,  start your item like an pc,  install the os  like a pc  and add stuff later, an embedded version is a slimmed down windows,   even an normal os can be cleaned and slimmed down a bit



yeah its not easy,  but there is some ways to recover from isos or image files  ... the drivers and or touch panel interface etc ... even recovering  the registry keys  needed  etc ...
