new batteries drain fast
« on: January 17, 2023, 09:10:19 am »
The aa and aaa batteries in the kits show as fully charged in my ebl charger, but the batteries die within minutes when installed in a device. this is not at all how my other older ebl batteries last- they power the same device for around one week before needing to be recharged.

returning things wastes my time. If there is any ideas for this issue? thanks

video here, 4 old batteries work well, but new one drain fast

none can read your mind

outright useless seek solution or simply non sense with no info,

what is ebl ?

what is aa aaa, is it rechargeable battery of AA or AAA size ?

what is the electrochemistry compounds or type of this rechargeable battery Zn-MnO2, rechargeable Ni-Zn b, alkaline: RAM, NiCd, NiMh, Li-ion or Li-Po ?

what is this rechargeable battery capacity, how many cell in each battery of that type

how many voltage read in charger, and reread how many if represent with a correct battery or diode; to distinguish linear or nonlinear output by the charger

The linked video answers a lot of questions already.
I believe your charger is EBL model RM-76 8-Bay. This one charges NiMH batteries only. Can you confirm the batteries are NiMH too?

The charger seems to indicate that the new battery is fully charged. Don't trust that indication al too much, it is just what it is, an indication. It probably is based on the voltage of the battery not on its capacity. Some will argue that the voltage is a function of the capacity and that is true but these are brand new batteries and your charger might be fooled with this.

Try to charge the batteries first and retest. For AA 1,5h minimum, 3 hours if you put 8 batteries in the charger.
When it fits stop using the hammer

thank you for your concern.
I can't say much about this ebl brand, they sell battery and charger.
I read the forum rules and I can't put a link to the battery I purchased directly to you, or the platform might kick me out.
rechargeable aa ni-mh battery, 2800mah.
test my battery voltage atound 0.5V~0.8V

hi all, back here and update. my issue is solved. all batteries work well now. eblofficial posted a blog on how to solve this issue. In one words, should active batteries, charging and discharging several times, note that the correct charger--discharge the battery at low current.
If any guys have the same issue, highly recommend the blog-- Why Do Fully Charged Batteries Die Quickly? Reason And Solution.eblofficial.com. Hope it helps you.

That makes it sound as if they were selling you used batteries severely hit by the memory effect.
Have you tried measuring the capacity during discharge before and after reconditioning them with a few cycles?
