Do we know of a trustworthy source for some of these or are those days long gone?  Thanks.

MJL1302A/MJL3281A are still in production from On Semi - buy them from your favorite distributor and they'll be fine.

The modern replacements, specified by Toshiba, the manufacturer, are:

2SA1943 and 2SC5200
