Onkyo HT-R670 help
« on: July 17, 2015, 03:35:54 pm »
Hi,

I have a receiver that blew a cap (C6044). I replaced it with another and it blew immediately. Any thoughts on what I should do next? I'm thinking of sucking Q6034 and Q6044 out and testing those next.

Any help would be appreciated. Attached is the circuit diagram I managed to find online. C6044 is just right of center.

Thanks

Also check R6084, Q6054, R6104, Q6064, R6094 and R6074.
May be something like 100 V across the cap.
Pictures may be helpful.

What pictures would you like? I have a clip of the PCB layout attached here.

1. Bad output transistors.
2. One or more base current limiting resistors. (You can't really have enough DC voltage across that cap unless the BE junctions and/or R6084 or R6094 are open.)
3. I would seriously check Q5044, Q5034, and the associated 100 ohm resistors R5164 and R5174.
4. The bias transistor Q6014 probably didn't survive either. Not sure about Q6004.
