Onkyo's TX-NR626 HDMI switching issue?
« on: October 25, 2023, 12:49:59 am »
I take it the HDMI switching issue is on the HDMI board?  My receiver just started not switching the HDMI inputs, some audio would switch but not video, most dont switch.  I am guessing 15-20k hours on the unit.  Whats the likelihood for repairing this?  Is it caps on the HDMI board?  thks..

There was a service bulletin or ten put out years ago for many Onkyo recievers.

The problem was indeed crappy capacitors on the HDMI board. I think they may have been 85degree rated caps too, possibly?

I replaced the ALL the capacitors on the HDMI board in my brother's unit with high quality 105degree rated caps and all was well again.

Attached is one of the service bulletins from Onkyo.
Where does all this test equipment keep coming from?!?

I might do that.   I am restricted to not lifting more then 20lbs for 3 more weeks.  I hate to pull out the receiver from my home theater 'hook-up' and leave a empty hole.  All HDMI inputs ares used and I run a 7.1 speaker config.  lot's of wires.  Does me no good sitting there, just takes up so much room on the bench along with the void in my home theater cabinet.  A cap switch out is much cheaper then a new unit.
