DER EE DE-5000: Replacement for diode D5

I'm in the process of repairing a DE-5000 that had a burnt reverse polarity protection diode at D5 (it likely failed short before, but was made worse by me after I sent 3W through it...
). It's a small glass surface mount diode (see
https://youtu.be/Wcm5-CgX3Wc?t=3m12s
).
Any suggestions for a suitable replacement? Also, maybe it's just me, but it seems like a mediocre idea to do reverse polarity protection with only a diode and no fuse / poly fuse...

After doing some research, I've decided to go with a miniMELF Schottky diode with a specified 600 mV V_f at 200 mA.
