HP Z600 Power Supply - DPS-725AP
« on: February 06, 2021, 06:58:02 am »
Hi All,

I'm trying to see if there is any possibilities to repair this PSU which is completely dead at the moment.
-The green power indicator at the back of the PSU does not turn on at all.
-300K+ ohm between live and neutral, No short circuit to ground.
-No visible bloated or leaked capacitors, no damaged FET or other burnt marks on the board
-No fuse internally
-Aware of lethal energy on the cap and i'm definitely being careful in handling/touching.

I couldn't find any schematic to start with, so need help from SMPS experts insight on this PSU model.

If you look on Elektrotanya you'll find a schematic for a DPS-470AB.  There looks to be a considerable amount in common between this and the DPS-850 used in the HPZ800.  You might find a useful guide to some at least of the circuitry in your DPS725.

I have repaired this power supply recently, but there is no schematics.  Since your power supply has no LED, it is likely that the standby +5V is dead.  Refer to this link which could be the cause. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=94565

My power supply was dead twice and the same fault with the TNY279PN
