Canon i865 - now no power light on the printer switch.
« on: June 25, 2023, 07:41:37 pm »
I bought a replacement refurbished print head for my Canon i865 and after a short time the power light went off. It has damaged the printer in some way. I check the power supply in another good printer and that is working ok.
I have attached photos of the board in printer. There is a fuse on the board which I checked and is ok.
I don't suppose these boards are repairable.
Has it got a processor could that have been killed by the print head?

Should the power light come on without the print head?

Yes it should come on - but you get an error code flashed on it.

So if power is ok in other printer something is overloading it in the first printer.

If error code is not coming up without the print head then the case really seems to be so that the processor board is the one that is overloading.
It's also possible that some kind of an "all good" signal is missing.
But it also seems that the head itself has its power components, so with luck the repair is easier than very difficult, very likely next head is also needed.
