Panasonic DMC-GX1 camera crash
« on: October 14, 2021, 12:47:35 am »
Hi, I got this camera as broken/no power, after taking it apart I happened to put the battery in and was rather surprised to see it turn on, after putting it back together I couldn't get it to power up again and after playing with it some more I had thought that I had a ground issue with the case (it's entirely metal) but upon further testing I'm fairly certain that the memory chip has cracked solder joints, if I apply some pressure then it will refuse to power on which at least explains why it works without the case and doesn't when the case is put on, but I would like to know what you think? Should I just go ahead and make an effort to reflow it or do you think there could be another issue?

I've attached a photo of the chip, looks like an hb01c08150-f and I also made a quick demonstration of my problem here: https://youtu.be/6iUqMlOTwdU
What I'm doing is very gently tapping the Panasonic processor then moving up to the memory chip, I'm hesitant to reflow it since of course if I screw it up, finding a replacement would be near impossible.
