Pioneer VSX-921-K Analog POWER SUPPLY Error
« on: February 03, 2018, 09:14:46 am »
Hi, I have an Pioneer VSX-921-K in the shop that shuts it self off after 3 seconds due to an (by manual) Analog POWER SUPPLY Error.
Is it normal to have 118V on +HIGHB signal pin? This is measured with CP403 (to amplifier) disconnected. CP1 input voltage measured 34.8V (AC to AC with probes).
When it shuts down the transistor heatsink and the transformer get hotter noticeably more.

-edit-
The diode bridge D7 shows normal characteristics (550 / 550 / 988) i think.

If you are reading a voltage that high - you are using the wrong ground reference, or you have a floating ground. WARNING: under some circumstances, this could put that high voltage across a main filter cap, rated at only 71 volts. It could potentially heat up dangerously, and spew it's contents.

I have seen this happen before (not on a Pioneer).

I understand. I believe I have been making voltage measurements the wrong way this entire time.
