I'm repairing a plasma TV at the moment and while I've located the fault and ordered components already (5 film capacitors on z-sus board toast), I'm interested in learning exactly how these things work. I know it's obsolete technology now but I'm curious to know, mainly because there seems to be a lot going on on the various boards, very high component count and a lot of power devices. What do they all do?
Unfortunately, all I can seem to find on Google is nothing more than fairly high-level overviews (aimed at the general public).
Does anyone know of a good article with in-depth descriptions of the circuit theory, with timing diagrams and maybe waveforms, explaining how the difference voltages and signals are applied to the plasma panel to create the image, and how each part of the circuit of a typical TV generates these signals.
I already have the service manual, but although it does have full schematics and block diagrams and general troubleshooting info, it doesn't actually describe what anything does.
