plasma tv power board repair
« on: January 15, 2021, 09:44:15 pm »
hi guys i have a faulty smps for a samsung tv the board is a BN44-00516a. But i am having trouble diagnosing the fault originally it a had 3 shorted transistors and a faulty Infineon-ICE3BR2565JF switch mode ic which were all replaced. I also had to run a wire to lifted pad on the switchmode ic and the short was gone and powered it up but still no standby voltages. So the high voltage side seems to about 320vdc and low voltage isolated side no voltages at all.
Without a schematic i feel like i am bashing my head up against a wall my mind doesn't want to give up but where do you draw the line in repair when is something beyond saving? how do you guys get around not having a schematics?
i am verry interested in peoples oppinions i have heard from other people they reverse engineer the board but thats alot of work and is worth hassle?

Electrotanya claim they have the schematic, but I have no idea how accurate it is.

Personally, I have never bothered to try and repair these types of boards - 90% of the parts will be pure unobtanium; Shove a reclaimed board in it; it is probably cheaper than sourcing the spare parts.

This might be a similar issue? Which transistors blew up? There's schematics listed in the thread, not sure if they apply to your board or not.
