You said that during a malfunction the power supplies get very hot.
Try using a thermal imager to find elements of increased heating in the circuit of amplifier A.

Hi
Position 1 seems to be very sensitive. As long as the positive lead of the multimeter is touched to it, the 8920a will easily display a 700 fault status.
I am still waiting for the 8920a fault to reappear
