Please help identify rotary switch
« on: November 12, 2020, 09:59:33 am »
I have a sony DSC-HX50 camera.
The rotary switch on the back of the camera is failing. The up-down-left-right and center buttons work fine, but the rotary part does mostly random stuff when I rotate the switch. This is irritating and does interfere with normal camera usage.

This switch does not have any part number on it, just "3871" written on the side.
From the service manual from sony this switch seems to have a part number 1-789-417-11

The service manual is to large to upload here (exceeds the 4MB limit per file). But can be downloaded from elektroTanya: https://elektrotanya.com/sony_dsc-hx50_sm.rar/download.html
The part of interest is the S807 from the L3 pdf file from the archive.

So far I have found the whole board as a replacement part, but that is rather pricey if from some reputable source OR is from aliexpress, I have ordered already two from aliexpress, one was not send at all, the second one got cancelled few days after the alleged shipment.
If someone has access to some other documentation from sony and is able to provide a part number that can be used to buy this switch somewhere it would be great.

No, I figured this is to low-level hardware stuff and they would not share such information. Do You think they would tell me where to but this rotary encoder?

Never rule out the possibility that the manufacturer might be able to supply the part or at least give you some advice.
