Please help: UHF8JT rectifying diode replacement
« on: January 30, 2023, 03:07:15 pm »
Hello,

I am searching for a replacement of a VISHAY "High Voltage Ultrafast Rectifier" model UHF8JT. (https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/427/88956-339625.pdf)

This one has been discontinued and VISHAY recommends as alternative model VS-ETH0806FP-M3. (https://www.mouser.com/PCN/Vishay_PCN_DD_006_2018.pdf)

However, the alternate model does not come in ITO-220AC package. As far as I understand, this package has the backside isolated so that you can screw it against a cooler.

Do you know of an available replacement in ITO-220AC? This is for the high voltage part of a Samsung TV power board (see my other thread).

If I only get a replacement in TO-220AC package, what will happen if I screw it to the cooler? Does it make any difference? Isn't pin 1 GND?

Is there a way to isolate it? Could I glue some electrical tape? Wouldn't that invalidate the cooling?

Sorry for these lame questions, but I feel stuck on a simple component...

Regards,
Vitor

Is there a connection between pin #1 and the heatsink via the PCB? If not, then you must isolate the diode. If you use the non-isolated package, then you will need something like this (silicone rubber pad and bush):
