Title: Please tell me what this is

I have this component which I need to replace for obvious reasons. I have googled it but can't find anything useful. So if anyone can point me to a data sheet or something, I would be grateful.

It's used in a speed regulator for a small 24 VDC motor. The motor probably use less than one amp.
My guess is that it is either a voltage regulator or a power transistor of some kind.

One-terminal devices are "uncommon."  Can you show the backside?
