Power Supply 305D - showing current with no load plugged in
« on: November 02, 2024, 03:08:50 am »
Hi all - newbie here. I have an issue with my WEP PS-305D power supply. It's showing a standing current of around 3.5A with no load plugged in. Voltage seems to work fine, although it could probably do with some finer calibration. I've had this issue for a few days - and other than the Current Meter being incorrect, it seemed to be working well enough to let me finish my couple of small tasks.

Today I got around to taking the cover off to look for anything obvious. Couldn't see anything, but I wiggled a few plugs to see if there might be any loose connections - and then the no-load displayed current returned to zero as it should. I hate to declare it "fixed", so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of which connection might be causing this. (I wiggled too many to know.)

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

Hello!
You made a typical mistake when diagnosing a malfunction. You can’t touch or reconnect anything until the reason is found. So it was scared away for a while. Now should wait for it to appear again.

It would be great if next time you attached a photo with the current and voltage indicators and an external voltmeter readings as well.
