Prema 6001 repair

I have a Prema 6001 6 1/2 digit meter that has stopped working. Prema is no longer supporting these in any way. Having done a lot of troubleshooting and replacing any potentially funky chips I believe the problem is a custom Prema chip "Prema CD". Does anyone know of a way to get one of these chips? Its a shame that this instrument has been brought to an end over a custom chip.

Well  you'll have to find a 5001 or 6001 for parts, or someone who could sell you some parts ??

Could be custom design(s)  or simply rebranded ic's ..., you have to analyze the schematics, and maybe with eevblog members here  you'll get some answers

You can write a mail to prema company  to ask  spare-IC. It is not expensiv (~20€ ). I have repaired a 5017SC with new ADC converter, old is dead.
It is  a custom-IC from prema, this company make itself.

But no support for calibration, because last technican is going into retirement, since  july 2020
Probably is  spare part yet avaible.

test equpiment story of prema is very very sad.   Big issuses with  accquiring of SMD compompent has killed test equpiment production. Then  it shut  R&D down to save of cost. It was  5017/8017 unit. Now, prema has nobody, which can developing high end multimeter.
Company is saved, because it has second mainstay. It called semiconductor factory (short "fab").  Prema build fab, because prema need very good ADC converter for own multimeter.

Thanks for the input. I do appreciate any positive input. I did contact Prema and was told that there is no more support or parts:

Dear Mr. Martin,

we thank you for email and inquiry.

As you may already be aware, PREMA stopped the production of instruments and had withdrawn from the measurement instruments market at the end of 2002. Since then, we upheld repair service for the instruments manufactured by us in our workshop in Mainz, Germany.

To our regret we have to inform you today, that PREMA finited this service completely on 31st July 2020. Starting 1st August 2020, we no longer offer repair or calibration service. In the meantime, we do not have any more a service engineer within reach. Also, the delivery of spare parts and accessory got to the end.

A little flicker of hope may be, that we heard there are instrument enthusiats in the internet, who discuss technically on PREMA and other multimeters in chats.

The good news is that if I let it warm up for about 1 hour it goes through many false starts and then works correctly. I reset the calibration zero and its actually just outside its accuracy spec given the time since it was built (approx 50 PPM at 10V) and I'm not quite ready to do a real calibration.
Still the 1 hour is a real nuisance. I'll keep it powered while I figure out a next step. Its not dead any more just on a form of life support.
