| Prodigit 2000MU energy meter repair - resistor value |
| (1/1) |
| kamal:
One of the resistors of this Prodigit 2000MU energy meter has burned. Please see the attachment. I replaced it with a 10k but it still gets hot. It appears to be a 2 or 3W resistor. Can someone let me know the correct value of it? |

Well, there is a good possibility that something else is wrong. You need to check the circuity after this resistor to find out what is pulling this current wrongly. |

At the moment my guess is that for some reason the resistance got increased and hence the larger voltage drop caused it to heat up and finally failed. I wonder if the value is like 100 ohms. 10k won't be a match then and explains why it continues to heat up. Before trying with other resistance values, I thought of seeking help. |

After looking at the capacitive power supply circuit, I determined that a 100 ohms wouldn't cause a problem so replaced the resistor with a 100 ohms 3W one. No more abnormal heating of the resistor, the device is working well now. |
