QX-7277A sound board
« on: May 15, 2020, 08:39:03 pm »
My kid has a toy car he can drive in with sound effects.
For some reason the sounds play way fast since today.

There's 4 sound buttons.
Left, right, horn and music.

If you press music and keep the contact shorted, it plays at normal speed.
Yet given you have shorted a button, you cannot play any other sound after.

i've tried dropping the input voltage, but without succes; either it stays fast or it doesn't play at all.
Not sure if that's because this cannot fix it or because I need a really specific R value to make it work.

Measured all Rs and Cs, seem fine.

Any advice would be welcome, it has sentimental value.

Well, I suggest to desolder wires, take it on a bench, clean good with alcohol and observe really good. Maybe just try to reflow every component with solder, there is not a lot of them. Of course, do not overheat. This board has buttons, so it means it is flexing. Flexing may cause solder micro cracks which is hard to see without microscope.

If you are confident with soldering, just reflow everything, can not hurt.

Totally nailed that.

Resoldered the wires and components by hand, stopped working all together.
Reflowed in the kitchen oven, 200C 10 minutes, came out crispy brown, warped and the whole house smells like burnt electronics.

No sound.

Anyone know where I could get such a replacement board?
