Remote Control Problem
« on: December 10, 2021, 05:19:55 pm »
Hello; I have a Panasonic SA-HE100 VA Receiver and the remote stopped turning the amp on or off, turning it on manually everything and all other buttons on remote work fine. I can see the signal received by the amp from the remote on my scope AT the CPU and it is consistently the same. I have followed the stand-by voltage to the CPU and have VCC,VREF. all is good. I have NO voltage on the relay pin of the CPU using the remote control. but have it when pushing the  the power switch. this CPU also has a reset & hold circuit but I have no knowledge of the logic or even if this would have anything to do with it. I have no information as to or if the receiver or the remote can be reset. Any Ideas would be welcomed I'm at a loss. Schematics available.  Thanks Mick

The chances of there being an issue in the receiver are practically zero, given your description.

The included remote is programmable, and it’s conceivable it’s gotten confused (or even something as simple as needing to be put back into a different mode). Try just removing the remote batteries for a few minutes and trying again.

P.S. Please be mindful of other people’s time by making an effort to get product model numbers, descriptions, etc. correct so we don’t have to waste time figuring out what you meant. This is an “SA-HE100” “AV receiver”.

My Bad, omitting the SA in the model number I have corrected it. Thanks
I have not only replaced the battery but have disassembled and cleaned it.

Do you have an Arduino and an IR receiver and emitter? You could try using that to a) send a known code for the power function of the remote (see attachment), and b) receive your remote’s code to see if it’s the same.

Tooki; Thanks for this great idea and information. I took apart the volume encoder to clean and in the process I came across the front of this unit and I'll be dammed there is a tiny button that says HELP/RESET I have had this amp for about 20 years and have never noticed it  :palm: and there is no reference to it in the service manual. I held it down for about 5sec. RESET came up on the display and now it works. I don't know if something happened in the process of cleaning the encoder or the reset. This amp sets under a disk and runs the sound for my PC except for an occasional dusting I never see this thing--wow..................  Once again thanks for your effort.

Glad you got it working!

Modern service manuals suck. :(

The home theater receiver I use is a Denon I got from someone back in 2009, practically brand new, because he got annoyed with it after it needed resetting once or twice to successfully handshake an HDMI port, so he got something else and gave me that one. It's given me no trouble at all, but does go to show that this modern MCU-controlled stuff sometimes gets itself confused, and often has some method (often hidden) for resetting it.
