Repair Documents and Links
« on: July 12, 2014, 03:46:19 pm »
I would like to start this thread rolling with a great TEK  troubleshooting PDF that should be had by anyone with a CRT scope.

http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/tek-parts/troubleshooting-scopes.pdf

Note www.sphere.bc.ca is a good source for Tek and other scope parts.

Here's a x reference pdf for Tek parts:
http://bee.mif.pg.gda.pl/ciasteczkowypotwor/Tek/publikacje/Common_Design_Parts_Catalog_Semiconductors.pdf
There's another here:
http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/tekequiv.html
But the best one is at the foot of that page. Sphere ask that it not be linked so you can find it yourself and download it for reference. Be warned, it's a zipped PDF 27 Mb.

For all things Tek:
http://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/Main_Page

If you have something to contribute and you can't provide a link, post a quick description and attach it in a format the forum allows.  :-+
By all means re-visit to edit links and posts to keep this a great resource for the future.
Thanks EEVbloggers.

See how this thread goes, but I would hope that content is primarily documents and links.

For newbies opening repair threads:
Use the following posted links to find a service manual for your broken equipment and be sure to include that link into your thread so we can all play along and help easily.

Use the search as even looking in the listed brands did not reveal all manuals for that brand.

There is at least one on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/King-KY-196A-and-KY-197A-Com-Service-Manual-/380856480625

So it does exist

Maybe this link?
http://www.tousenvol.com/files_storage/Bendix_King_KY%20196A_installation_manual.pdf

It does say installation but it has schematics (Edit: not really just diagrams :( but it's the same as the one on ebay)

Appreciate the link but it's only a wiring diagram. I require full schematics.
Hopefully I can get a pdf of the schematics somewhere without having to purchase the service manual.
I'll probably never use it again.

I've been searching all over the net for any Intron DSO-2020A documents (schematics if possible) but it seems too old to have any available although someone in an other forum said they had some in 2008. Not sure if i'd dig up the topic again...
The only thing i found is a reference to the older model here:http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/intron_storage_oscilloscope_dso.html and a picture of the one I have here : http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/intron_digital_storage_oscilloscope_dso_2020a.html#b

Fun fact, the one I have has the CRT cover of the DSO-2000... I think someone tinkered with it before I got my hands on it and decided to have a laugh but since they both use the same CRT model, it doesn't surprise me that much.
Anyway, it powers up and I get the trigger led to light when tinkering with the knobs but the screen remains silent. I haven't tested it any further yet but I'm sure I'll find something bad in there.  :-BROKE

Anyway, I'd be happy if someone could point me in the right direction for the docs. Is there a website for really old stuff ? The links provided in the previous posts don't list any Intron stuff like they don't exist. I have to say though that this scope was made in the Netherlands according to the back plate.

Of course, that's exactly what this thread's for.

EEVblog members,
Not wishing to dismiss the credit due to those that have contributed to this thread, should I edit the OP and add all worthy links to the first post?
What is an appropriate order/method?  :-//

Sure this is only a short thread thus far but I'd hope on my demise that another member that has posted on the first page continue to condense the list of links.
(got a good few years yet to torment you all.  ;) )

Thanks to RGB & miguelvp we have another great source of free manuals^^^^^^^ :-+

I'm sure quite a lot of people know about this website, but there is also a DL link at the bottom of the page I linked to that has a HUGE 343 page list of Tektronix part numbers and equivalent parts.  I figured I'd post it here in case some don't know about it.

http://artekmanuals.com/ has very reasonably priced high quality scans of obsolete test equipment.

It claims "Over 100,000 PDF manuals sold world-wide since 2001", and (after buying them for a Tek492 SA) I see no reason to doubt it.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

I have around 12,000 various manuals for download athttp://www.electronicsrevived.com click on Downloads and then "Service Manual Archive"

All I ask in return if you sort out a directory or have a manual that is not there to go to ftp://rdp.electronicsrevived.comand upload the manual there. No exe etc.

Mentioned in another thread is TiN's collection of manuals. Added here so not missed when I get around to collating all links.

I can share my collection of T&M manuals and docs in return. (160GB).

Parking another link:
I have a lot of old books (application notes, guides, magazines) , service manuals, schematics , datasheets etc on my ftp server ... here's the link

Code: [Select]
ftp://helpedia.com/pub/temp/
It's anonymous ftp, you can download as much as you want, but anonymous accounts are capped to 1MB/s or something like that.

It's 124,358 Files, 8,390 Folders, 355 GB in total.  ... Server has about 10 TB of bandwidth and i'm only using about 4-6 TB each month.
@ mariush
Can we list your collection in this sticky too ?

Not sure if this is the right place to post to but....

Looking for the schematic/circuit for a Vision Engineering Alpha Microscope PSU main PCB.

I salvaged a much used and abandoned microscope for home use.
Initially the lamps were flickering at about 2Hz which I cured by replacing the main Electrolytic, but now at power up, the circuit takes several attempts to ramp up to full light level.

I have gathered up data sheets for the ICs and I am hoping that someone has a schematic/circuit diagram before I have to trace out the board.

I believe the problem area is the Triac (MAC223A-8-ON) driven by a Zilog (Z86E0412PSC) that produces the lamp level PWM?, so anyone with experience of this type of circuit I would appreciate hearing from you.
I have yet to start probing the board with my scope, but this will be my first use of it, so I am doing a lot of reading up before I start poking into a live board.

Thanks in anticipation.

Welcome to the forum.

It's not really but as a newbie we'll forgive you.  :)

You should start a new topic in this main Repair board and you'll get better visibility and more views.
Use the brand and model in the thread title and start the post by asking for manuals and/or schematics.
You might have to draw out the circuit and/or take some pics so others can help you fix it but those might be down the track a bit yet.
Good luck with it, seems a very worthwhile repair.

Edit
Smelter strated a new thread:

There probably are some more dead capacitors on the board, likely around 47-220uF, and replacing those should cure the problem.

For those new to scopes and CRO's the first few minutes if this old vid from Tek is useful to understanding the functions of moving an electron beam to create a waveform on a CRO display.
This simple explanation also helps one understand what might be involved on repair of CRO's.

The http://exodus.poly.edu/~kurt/manuals/manuals/ link doesn't work for me.

If you Google certain test equipment, you can find a direct link such as: http://exodus.poly.edu/~kurt/manuals/manuals/Tektronix/TEK%202445B,%202455B,%202465B%20Operator.pdf

There used to be a directory of all the manuals on the site but I can't find it. I have some Bruel & Kjaer test equipment and I believe I've seen some B & K listings in the past.

Anyone?

Lee

I found this link to the Arboga Electronics History Society Sweden Electronic Test Instrument Museum

https://www.aef.se/Instrumentmuseum/Innehall_instrumentmuseum.htm

It has info on Tektronix, HP and a bit of other stuff. It also has links to some manuals including service manuals on external sites. I include the link here because it might make a better index than some sites.

Also I did find a service manual here but it does not appear to be included in any index. I found it via google.

https://www.aef.se/Instrumentmuseum/Instrumentportal_ny/Dokument/Enstaka/9440_Protokollanalysator.pdf
A GN Navtel 9440 protocol analyser

Anyway I trust it will be useful to someone.

Hi!

I was looking for the components list for the Soviet Made C1-55 Oscilloscope I've just got as a repair project, it proved impossible to locate any until I put the Cyrillic word for Oscilloscope into a Google Image Search!

If your looking for Russian Test Equipment Documentation, (beware - it'll be nearly all in Cyrillic!!!) try this site:-

http://www.kiprip.ru/help.html

I finally found the parts list I wanted on this site!

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

I've been looking for the service manuals for the BK Precision 1590a.  I can find the schematic/parts manual and the owner's manual, but the service manual is very hard to find. (I do know that it exists though!)

I have gone through every website listed here and more. Any help is appreciated!

https://elektrotanya.com/bk-precision_1590a_parts_sch.pdf/download.html

You need to allow scripting for elektrotanya.com (if using noScript or similar) and wait for about a minute until the download link appears on the bottom of the page. Download is a 33.2 Mb .pdf file. The server is a bit slowish but who is judging free cake? :)

Kind regards,

I'm going to post this here, since so little of repair on our forum touches (IMO) the invasion of electronics into heavy-duty appliances. YouTuber JohnAudioTech has a 14-minute close-up of how 6 IGBT's can find their way into a modern motor.

Hi all, just scanned an AWA datasheet that's in my collection.

It's for the AWM 1338 "48 Element Self Scanned Photo-Diode Array". It's quite an interesting chip, can't find anything about it on google:

Anadex FS-600 Frequency Synthesizer
« Reply #90 on: February 10, 2021, 04:47:26 pm »
I've searched this site (and many more referenced here), yet cannot find any data on an Anadex FS-600 frequency synthesizer. Actually, I find little to nothing on Anadex at all. So while I continue my search, might someone, anyone here have any docs on this gadget? It's VERY well built, but is off freq a bit and I can only walk it in to within about +15hz of "on freq".

And as always, thank you.

If the manufacturers link does not work, try to use the link at ARCHIVE.ORG.

I have found some information there.

Today, only 26,000 remain.

Looking everywhere, including every link posted here, and I can't find any service manuals / schematics for B&K Precision VSP12010.  Any ideas?

I've been looking for the service manuals for the BK Precision 1590a.  I can find the schematic/parts manual and the owner's manual, but the service manual is very hard to find. (I do know that it exists though!)

I have gone through every website listed here and more. Any help is appreciated!

There is also a B&K 1570A which may be very close, or nearly identical, have you looked for that one, I think I once found that SM, it may have stated 1570A/1590A I don’t exactly recall.

I am given to understand the Kenwood/Trio CS–2100a Oscilloscope is electrically the same as the BK 1590A, and you can download a full 194 page S.M. for the Trio CS–2100A from Elektrotanya!

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

I have found a Yokogawa CRO which has extensive rat damage. The model number is 3663. Couldn't find anything in the internet about the existence of such a model :-//
All the PCBs inside look OK, non of the capacitors seem to have leaked at least from a visual inspection. However rats have chewed on almost all the inter-board wires.

If anyone has any information on this specific model or something similar, That would be highly appreciated. A repair manual or a schematic would be a godsend. Thanks in advance.

IT's a Yokogawa 3663 CRT oscilloscope, 100MHz 2Channels

I cant find any Hitachi markings. Back says "Yokogawa Electric Corporation"
It's indeed possible similar products exist from Hitachi, maybe OEM

Edit: This scope does indeed look very similar to Hitachi V-1050F. atleast from the front panel

Confirmed, This is Hitachi V-1050 scope. Schematics match 100% and even the wire colors are the same. Maybe Hitachi made these and Yokogawa rebranded them? because the V-1050 has lots of resources online and seems quite well known.

Anyways, looks like its time to get wiring some crusty connectors...

Hello,
I can't find the service manual or the schematics of the spectrum analyzer HAMEG HMS1000 (or Rohde & Schwarz HMS-X, it's the same device).
I have checked on most of the links listed here.

Thanks !

Artek manuals sad news
« Reply #107 on: April 29, 2023, 04:12:45 pm »
Artek has long been a good source for high quality scans of manuals. I ordered a download two weeks ago and it did not arrive so I called and was shocked to hear that Dave, the guy behind it has died over Easter. His wife, Linda, is trying to keep everything up but she was never shown through the operation of the web site. For now, do not expect to get downloads. She is fulfilling CD orders. She is hoping to get the downloads working but is not sure how long that will take. For now do not expect to get a download from them.  Just order CD's.
