Repair for FLUKE 5522A MFC
« on: February 18, 2021, 04:30:48 am »
Hi Folks,

I met a FLUKE 5522A Multi-function calibrator. Unfortunately, this equipment is not working.
It displayed "Error 1506 IDAC counts out of range" during the self-test process... |O, and the OHM function is damaged. (ACV/DCV <330V range and ACI/DCI are working normally)
Based on 5500A's (not 5522A) schematic, I have checked the A6 DDS board and not found any fault component.
Funnily enough, I saw the J202 connector seems to only be using one pin with 2 pin package from the motherboard side. Pls see the attached plot.
Who has the Fluke 5522A's schematic or this instrument, could you please support me to double confirm the connector? Tks a lot!

With best regards.
Seebeck

For the J202 connector, I know the details for the base pin now. Because I opened another F5522A.
But I met a problem for this one, it showed "Error 1506: IDAC counts out of range" when set to OHM simulation |O, and showed "Error 399: Fault during DVZ" during the calibration by itself :phew:.
Does anyone have any suggestions and resolved the same issue or have any service info?

I checked the CR40 and CR41 (Type: MBRS140T3G,Vendor: On semi, Marking code: B14, a 40V 1A Schottky Diode) were damaged with A5 impedance synthesizer, whatever the positive or negative direction, the voltage drop measured result was 0.000V, so the diodes were short circuit.
I have to this point replaced Vishay's SS14 for CR40/CR41 as above., but the Error is still there.
Thanks a lot.

With best regards.
From Seebeck.

Hello everyone,

I am new, I speak English with difficulty, I hope this will not prevent you from understanding me. ^-^

About "Error 1506: IDAC counts out of range", I found on the "A5 synthesized impedance" card, a number of out of order components:
R56,and MOSFET Q12,13,14,15.

RAS, after these changes... ^-^

Have a nice day...

Tophy

Hello Seebeck,
Can you do the diagnostic test first?
Can you share the error codes given by the device there?
My first impression is that on the A6 board, the u26 (DG444) may be faulty.
I don't know about the 5522A A6 board, but you can check the U29-22-82 diagnostic circuit as it is very similar to the 5520 A6 board.

Hello ,
Can you figure out why we started with 0.000mA and ended up with 0.913..mA?
Can anyone help me with this? THANKS

Hello,
Most likely your current board is faulty.
Can you forward the diagnostic test result?

Hi
Anyone would recommend checking the zero adjustment procedure for the component that is out of specification and ensuring that it was performed correctly. If the issue persists, you may need to investigate further to identify the root cause of the problem. THANKS.

Does calibrator passing a full (7day) zero? If the issue is real it should have fail with some number.

As for me i had similar problem  caused by bad filter board.
