Repair of NEFF (Bosch/Siemens) electric hob - T14T82N0
« on: August 31, 2022, 01:11:39 pm »
Hi,

I just completed a very simple repair of our NEFF T14T82N0 Electric Hob. As Siemens and Bosch usually have the same "products" with slightly different topside designs - it will probably apply to any of the brands older touch based hob units. Might even be applicable to many other BSG Group touch products as they are quite good at product/design re-use.

The error on the NEFF hob was led's was just blinking dashes "-" occasionally - and touch interface was unresponsive.

Offender was as ... another dried out capacitor branded Yageo SJ 470uF 25v 105 deg. It had a slight bulge. It sits close to the touch flat cable connector on the DC side of the controller mainboard.

As my lab is not "up" (its in storage) I had to run out to get a new capacitor from a local component pusher. So I could not get one with quite the "longevity" of the Yageo - but so far it works.

But a welcome surprise from the repair is now the touch interface on the hob is a LOT faster to use.

Seems like the Capacitor have been on the fritz for a while. As we never had that type of hob before we moved into the house - we had no idea how it was supposed to work.

As the hob has a slightly stupid and unique size - the only replacements that would fit directly in the cutout and available space was all priced > £1500.

But repair was less than £1,- in materials (ex my time) - so quite a few kg of CO2 saved from unnecessary purchase of new hardware.  >:D
