That looks really good. Given how badly the original display aged I would consider modifying it to drop the current a bit, you might be able to get away with dropping the anode voltage depending on how high it is to begin with. These things often ran decades 24/7 so in a car it should last indefinitely.

One additional idea. Maybe you can replace electrolytic capacitors with MLC to prevent failure due to the heat in the car in the summer.
