Repair Resistor Decade Box - Yokogawa 279301
« on: September 26, 2023, 04:25:03 pm »
Hello,

I just bought a standard resistor box on ebay, Yokogawa 279301 (1mohm resolution)
I checked after receiving it, and discovered that the solder connection to the terminal was broken.
I want to ask, can I re-solder the weld joint by normal solder?
If can not, pls advise me type of solder that is ok in this case?'

tks so much.

Can you repair that connection by just re-heating the existing solder joint, without adding more solder?

Yes just apply a little sticky flux, and melt the solder again, and it will work, unless the terminal itself has cracked. Will not do much change except for possibly 1mR change. If terminal is broken you will need to replace it, easiest to use the ground terminal below, and use it in place of the existing one, as the terminal type is the same, and the broken one will still work as ground, as the insulators stay in position there.
