Repair Sony PVM-1443MD
« on: November 06, 2021, 02:28:57 pm »
Hello,

I am trying to repair a PVM-1443MD that when turned on doesn't display the image
 (but the sounds work ok).

What I have checked:
- Voltages from the power board are OK
- Visual inspection of components on main board, no capacitor that looks bad or
burned component
- The filaments are glowing when turned on
- On the CRT neck board, I have G2 voltage but I get 0 volt for G1.

I have two PVMs with exactly the same symptoms, so I guess it is a common failure.

Does anyone has some suggestions on where to look at next ?

Many thanks!

Update, after reflowing some solder joints, I now get an horizontal blue line on the screen.

In the end I solved the problem myself. I noticed that IC501 was not getting 12v vvc then further investigation revealed that IC505 in the 12v regulation circuit had bad joints. After reflowing it the issue was solved.
