Title: Repair usb-c headphones connector
Post by: Acer444 on September 07, 2023, 08:28:22 pm
My headphones stopped working because of broken wires, I took apart the USB-c connector to resoldier wires but accidentally scratched off the markings on PCB while removing compound and now I have no idea how to soldier 5 wires back in the correct order. Any ideas? The original headphones are for Huawei mate 20 pro smartphone.

You gotta take out the rest of white gue and ring it to the actual USB-C connector, see what is what.

If you take off the gue, you will see where the ground is, 3 of them, and where the mic is, left right is going to be hit or miss.

There is another approach. Find 3 grounds. Then find find left, then find right, by soldering and trying to play music. The remaining one would be mic.

If DavidAlfa is correct that these headphones have their own DAC then there are no analogue signals on the connector and all the above posts by u666sa can be ignored.

Plug it in, play test tone (different frequencies on left and right channels), probe with scope to find the left and right channels and ground.
