replace DM1106EN on UT210e show error and not working
minhtri0405:
Hi all, firstly sorry for my bad English due to I'm vietnamese.
I have a ut210e with dm1106en chip, it's still working good but sometime in resistance mode it is not show OL, it is show random value about >10 20mega ohm.so i think chip DM1106 have bad . then I buy a new one and replace the old one.
unfortunately , it is not power up, only red led light up and short beep when turn on. I have tried to enter CAL mode by hold select and hold button and turn knob to resistance and it show "erre". please help me this case. the DM1106en is programmable chip ?(i think not). I also write eeprom 24c02 but nothing better. the original chip is stay alone in picture.
thank you so much

could be an programmable processor or need something to work ... or the eeprom is dud ???

thanks for your info. eeprom not dead. i can read write it ok. but if the new chip is death it can not show "erre" when enter calib mode. so i guest need to do something when change a new chip

It's likely that you have a problem with the contents of your EEPROM (yes, ErrE indicates EEPROM error). The EEPROM doesn't just contain calibration settings, but also configures the functions of the meter (it is used in several DMMs, eg. the AN8008) with different functions. Entering calibration mode with incompatible function settings is likely to cause an error... https://github.com/bdlow/UT210E (and included links, particularly Kerry Wong).
Edit: Also check the UT210E mega-thread... https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/a-look-at-the-uni-t-ut210e/ You might find an EEPROM image there, but make sure it is for the DM1106EN rather than the DTM0660L which was used on earlier meters. If you can identify the configuration error, you may be able to edit just that item rather than a full re-calibration.
